September is nearly upon us, and with it the start of the new school year. Which means its time for the adults to have their fun. If you’ve been waiting to finally go away this year after all the mums and dads have left you to cover the office workload while they’ve spent quality time with their children, it’s finally time to escape.
Bargain holidays
Peak season is winding down, which means there’s plenty of choice for those last minute deals. We all know that holidays are expensive during the school holidays so if you’ve been hanging on to use your holiday after the rush now is the time to pounce and pick up a great value trip overseas or here in the UK. Everyone seems to have gone mad for Croatia this year, this is a great destination if the cost-conscious, as it Bulgaria’s Black Sea cost. The Euro is still pretty high against the Pound, so if you are heading away, be sure to check how far the pounds in your pocket can go.
Clear roads during the day
Even if you’re enjoying some time off but not venturing out on a holiday, you can take full advantage of the daytime traffic being at its best. Once the school run is out of the way, the roads are yours to enjoy with minimal stress. You may be able to do those niggling jobs you’ve been meaning to do such as DIY or finally doing the garden without the distraction of having the kids about.
Do something romantic
If you’ve been saving a day or two after the school holidays, you might want to have some quality alone-time with the other half. Having the kids go back may have liberated you of that bit of time you’d like to spend responsibility-free by treating yourselves to a romantic meal out, a cinema trip to see something which isn’t for the kids or a day away for a bit of a cultural excursion you’ve been putting off because you know it’ll bore the little ones.
