This Thursday marks Independence Day, the anniversary of the USA achieving independence from England, and whether you have links to the West or you just love Americana in all its forms, we think it’s a great excuse to cook up some all-American finger food. Check out our 5 favourite American-inspired dishes that are sure to wow your guests whether you’re celebrating the 4th of July or just having a Summer get together.
These are great for a party if you make bite-size pieces of chicken and serve them on cocktail sticks. The batter is given a delicious twist with the use of crushed up, fried bacon, making these bites an indulgent taste of the USA. You can fry these in a pan, but you might find it easier to cook them in a proper fryer like this Igenix one.
Is there any dish that screams ‘America’ more than the classic cheeseburger? Make them party-perfect with these mini sliders, complete with cheese and a homemade pickle. We recommend using a George Foreman grill like this 3-Portion Compact Grill for perfect cooking results.
Make sure you have a stack of napkins handy when serving up these messy, sticky little morsels of flavor, but trust us they won’t last long. This recipe is fairly simple to execute, with the only complication being the marathon 1 and a half hour baking time. If you’re often running short on oven space, we recommend investing in a mini oven like this Igenix one so you always have room to prepare these moreish beauties.
Alright, we’re aware that pizza isn’t technically American food, but it’s certainly a staple of pretty much any Western cuisine. Give the classic margherita a fun party twist by transforming it into bite-sized, tear off rolls. This recipe uses ciabatta bread mix to make the dough a bit easier to make, and if hand kneading dough is still too much work for you, we recommend a hand mixer with dough beaters, like this Bosch 350W hand mixer.

Red, white and blue and full to the brim with sugary goodness, this cake is so unashamedly American that we can’t help but be in awe of it. If you’re more of an English patriot, maybe pretend it’s the colours of the Union Jack, or just swap some food colouring out, but this cake is sure to please patriots from around the globe. Speed up the mixing process with this Igenix Hand Blender so you can spend more time with your guests and less time in the kitchen.
