Tight budget but still want to show mum you really care? Here are some great gift ideas that won’t cost the earth…
Pop to your local craft shop and get creative! Handmade cards not only show you have put extra thought and effort in, they are likely to be treasured forever compared to shop bought cards. Here are some examples to get ideas flowing!
They are in season and cost about £1 per bunch! Why not buy a couple of bunches and get some fancy paper to wrap them in to make them a little extra special?
Handmade Pamper Hamper
For as little as £10 you can make a gorgeous pamper hamper for your mum which slashes the price of shop bought hampers. Don’t spend too much on the basket and stuffing – you can pick them up for a few pounds at a discount shop. Why not fill it with scented candles, individual face masks, scented bubble bath, body moisturiser or your mums favourite chocolate?
Instant photo printing is available in many shops including Boots, Tesco and Jessops and can cost as little as 20p per print. Find a lovely frame (great choice in charity shops) and get printing. Try and choose a frame to compliment your chosen photo by colour matching. Select a colour in the photograph (not necessarily the main colour) and find a frame in that hue. Examples below…
A Fine Bottle of Wine
We aren’t talking supermarket bottles – get to your local fine wine merchant and have them hand pick a bottle based on what your mum likes. Let them know your budget, there are plenty of bottles available for £10 and under, ask for a wine bag (this will be branded with the merchants logo) and you could even ask them to write a personalised note such as “Specially selected for Anna” for an extra special touch.
Meals out are expensive to say the least. So why not cook your mum a lovely dinner for a fraction of the cost? For those not comfortable cooking a roast, sausage and mash are still as satisfying. For a cheap and easy dessert, have a go at an apple crumble or an easy no-bake cheesecake.
